More on Don's Maine forecast and the earthquake off the Maine Coast today (Ml 3.3) |
That Winslow, Maine forecast just gets more and more interesting - especially for Mainers like F: 07MAR2002 +/-2 days 44.4N 69.4W Md 2.0-3.0 Winslow Maine (within 35 km) I believe this is the first forecast Don has made for the northeastern U.S., someone correct me O: 12MAR2002 07:13:25 41.7N 69.3W MN=3.0 Southern New England (NEIS) This is one of the largest earthquakes in New England in the past 5 years. Two of larger magnitude have occurred - on Feb. 26 1999 (Ml 3.6; Winslow Maine) and Oct 25 2001 (Ml 3.5 Old Town Maine). The quake occurred nearly due south of Don's forecast epicenter but was more than 200 km to the South. Interesting, though that this was Don's first forecast for the area three significant events did occur in this relatively non-seismic area which were close to Don's forecast in their parameters.
