Pretty Fast on the draw that time, Don. Trying to make up for lost time I suppose. Anyway, earlier today, Don supplied forecasts for several Possible events in Japan (post # 13515 below), among them was the following: F: 11MAR2002 +/- 2d 37.0N 140.0E 4.0-5.0 Kuroiso, Japan (65 km radius) NIED issued the following earthquake parameters an hour ago: O: 9MAR2002 03:57 37.1N 141.2E Mj=4.4 E_OFF_FUKUSHIMA_PREF, Japan Source: http://argent.geo.bosai.go.jp/freesia/event/hypo/joho.html Don's earlier forecast had been for: F: 2MAR2002 +/- 2d 36.8N 140.4E 4.0-5.0 Ibaraka, Japan(65 km radius) Both of these fall very near the 65 km radius distance - tonights was 85 Km away, the earlier was about 60 km distant from this event. The forecast Made this afternoon was also correct in timing and magnitude. Nice job Don, It is especially difficult to provide good forecasts when you feel obligated To forecast for a specific area, nice job. By the way today's earthquake Was the largest in or off Honshu in nearly two weeks. Don's Forecast for Honshu today:

Hi Lowell. I see I didn't do so hot with the Japan forecast so I figured as long as I was in the neighborhood I would take a look see as to what might be in the offering for the next couple of days. Guess what? I found a 4.0 to 5.0 quake at 37.0N/140.0E. This is about 10Km west of Kuroiso, Japan, or about 50Km west of Kita-Ibaraki.
