One way to place active Web links in your posted note

Canie and Rev. Bob make Internet work look so simple! (humor intended)

For the rest of us who are “HTML challenged,” here are some details regarding one way to place active links in a posting to this bulletin board. Perhaps Canie will expand on this or make any necessary corrections.

I am going to try entering this information with two different formats in case the second one does not work. With the first one, replace each [ shown here with < (the "less than" sign) when you enter a link address as normal text in your message, and each ] with > (the "greater than" sign).

With the Web browser which I and probably quite a few other people are using, the “word wrapping” feature appears to break HTML Web site addresses etc. which are entered as text in a message into sections. And the links will then not work. So, the trick appears to be to add [br] (new line) (remember that substitution) before the address. Or [p] (begin new paragraph) can be added before it and [/p] (end paragraph) added after it.

A full link address would then look like the following. And when the note appeared on the bulletin board it would be a normal looking URL (Web site link etc.). The first part of the address would be invisible.

(1)

[br][a href=http://www.earthwaves.org/wwwboard/wwwboard.html]Earthwaves Earthquake Prediction Forum[/a]

or

[p][a href=http://www.earthwaves.org/wwwboard/wwwboard.html]Earthwaves Earthquake Prediction Forum[/a][/p]

(2) I am not certain if the following “preformatted” code [pre]& [/pre] will work here. There is only one way to find out. If the following link posts looking like a normal URL then it did not work.

Earthwaves Earthquake Prediction Forum

or

Earthwaves Earthquake Prediction Forum

This is what the posted link would then look like:
