An Mw 7.6 has just occurred on the Island of Mindanao, Philippines. The is the largest event in that Region since a Mw 8 on Aug 16, 1976 which killed nearly 10,000. This earthquake is located at approximately 58 degrees from the Hindu Kush earthquake (Mw 7.2) on Sunday and was an expected Far-field aftershock from that event at a Mw 6 or greater. Following is the notice given in the far field Forecast published on this web site on March 3, 2002. .
