Hi Tony. There are no “dumb questions” with the exception of a question that isn’t asked. There is no particular significance in the quake being a strike slip. The “moment tensor solution” (MTS) is used to identify a particular type of fault such as a strike slip, thrust, down dip, normal, or a combination such as “strike slip with thrust-faulting component, strike slip with normal-faulting component, or strike slip on dipping fault plane or strike slip with down-slip component (vertical fault plane) or an explosion. I learned the meaning of the MTS in the hopes that it would help me to see if I could figure out what was next on the agenda. So far it hasn’t helped. Take Care…Don in creepy town
