Hi Mike. To make sure I’m correct in the location this quake is east of North Island, New Zealand.

The data I use shows a quake for 35.4S/179.7W on 08/20/2001. This is 156Km (97 miles) from the actual epicenter of the quake. This is close, but for a quake of this magnitude not close enough as the damage would have been considerable had it occurred on North Island.
