It really helps if you will log the length of the tones you hear, the time you got the ear tones and the level of the sound.

High pitched usually comes from an area that has a lot of granite. Therefore, how long would one your tones be that might match an area near the Sierra's that would provide a matching tone to quake?

Its all in the geology of each fault and if you keep track of the length of the tone it will tell you how far away the quake will be and the quality of the tone will tell you what kind of rock structure the tone eminates from. In time you'll know from whence that sound arrives and how long it take before the quake is going to arrive.

One thing about ear tones is that they give one the impression that an earthquake is going to happen right now, but that is rarely the case. Been there, done that for 3 years. Its very seldom.

By the way, can you give us a general idea where you reside? Say the county?
