I suspect it would have to be on a case by case analysis of the historical records.

Some areas will die down quickly, others will take longer. Some will have erratic baselines, some will not.

Nothing is ever simple, it seems.

All my programs are written in TrueBasic by Kemmeny and Kurtz. It's a sort of pseudocompiled language, but it's a structured modern language.

I like it. I originally started using it for the USGS when we needed graphics, which FORTRAN did not have back then.
