Just Thinking |
Hi All. I made forecast for a quake to occur in Fresno on 01/05/200. To the best of my knowledge no quake occurred within my time window. However a 1.9Md quake did occur on 01/20/2002, which makes it 15 days late. No big deal. I missed it pure and simple. However what caught my attention was the fact that one did occur as well as the 2.5Ml quake in the area of Earilmart. I’m not 100% positive on this but I don’t think the Great Valley fault had anything to do with the Fresno quake. There is a remote chance that Great Valley fault may have been the source for the Earilmart quake. The other thing bothers me is that both quakes occurred on the same day. The reason it bothers me is this. Could this be an indication that the movement along the San Andreas south of Parkfield has locked to the point that the movement is now being taking up by the surrounding area and this just might be the first indication that a major quake is just down the road? Keep in mind that this is pure speculation on my part.
