Well for one thing, the areas in India etc. are subject to possible heavy duty quakes...some suggest over 9M. Although I don't think Garlock is going to change in a solid way..The areas south of Garlock are on the list as well as north. From my discussions and refinments over the years, science as I have agreed that anything from Tomales Bay North to the MTJ are capable of an 8.5M= > but the subduction area north of the MTJ can produce a 9M+...At least it is thought to be possible, whereas in the southern Garlock the rip would have to be pretty big...this is one reason I have been trying to get back in touch with Sue Hough...I think maybe her present job bumped her up a notch and she may be very busy now.
