Well, there might be a good chance of a 7.4 or better out there - and you bet there are a lot of folks who would care! Besides its on the major road between LA and Las Vegas - who would sell gas to all these southern california people that want to go burn their money?

Barstow has grown up some - Population within the city limits in 1996 was over 22,000 - Calico Ghost Town is nearby - lots of silver in those desert hills. Plus a couple of Military bases around - Yes, I think a few might care if a quake hit there.

It used to be lots of unpopulated desert between LA and Barstow - not really anymore - lots of little cities grew up along highway 15...
