Hi All. I see my forecast for Coalinga on 12/16/2001 came in on time, but the location of where it occurred at is kind of curious.

The 2.4Md quake occurred 7 miles SSW of New Idria, California, which makes it 37Km WNW of Coalinga, California This is in the area where there are a number of faults without recognized Quaternary displacement or showing evidence of no displacement during Quaternary time. However this doesn’t mean that it’s inactive. Just that there isn’t much activity associated with these faults. The last quake in an 8Km radius of today’s quake was 1997 12 10 051436.94 36.38 -120.71 11 2.90 MLPAS There have been 5 quakes since 1986 within an 8Km radius of today’s quake. This is from the NEIC catalog.

There is a thrust fault in this area, but I’m unable to determine its exact location. Take Care...Don in creepy town

This is about 15Km NW of Coalinga, California. Should occur on 12/25/2001. The window opens on 12/23/2001 and will close on 12/27/2001. The radius on this is 40Km. Take Care…Don in creepy town
