I think the "knowing the geology part" is a tough task given the depth of some of these quakes and the inferences made about the area's rock composition....

Regarding the "deep, dark, ugly" any chance you'd care to give the date this one was heard ? This could be useful info. for someone inclined to do some quick checking on something....

NO mention has been made of "two-step" tones which cycle high, low, high with varying durations. Any comments on this regarding prevalence or any other aspect ?
