Yellowstone, Mammoth Lakes also shaking
Posted by Lowell on December 02, 2001 at 12:16:20:

Mt Hood is not the only volcanic area in the U.S. which is shaking
to the beat of the Honshu quake this morning. Yellowstone is also
experiencing a series of tremors, apparently related to this strong
earthquake. Yellowstone is located at 74 degrees from the Honshu
quake, near an area where FFA are expected.

Earthquake have thus far been located in the Yellowstone area (MBMG)
at:
14:21:33 UT
15:04:45 UT
15:29:41 UT
16:17:02 UT
16:25:43 UT
and more

Ignore the event of Md 3.9 recorded by the automatic system at 13:12:17
(#230) this is a bogus event from the arrival of the P-wave from Honshu.

Without going into details, these do not appear to be surface wave
arrivals and represent a true strong increase in seismicity at Yellowstone
following the Honshu earthquake.

Similarly a series of small events also appears to be occurring in the
Mammoth Lakes region following the Honshu quake. These appear to begin
about 2 hours after the Honshu earthquake.
