Too many variables....

One might suppose that God would provide info. and discernment to allow discernment of the "facts". Part of that would be discerning whether there is only "relative truth" or "absolute truth"....

A recent news story asked how many religions described the 9-11 acts (attacks on/ of innocent people) as "wrong". Most replied that it was wrong...suggesting an "absolute truth".... Of course the terrorists may have another opinion....

We are getting a little OT here...to get On Topic... I recall seeing that Bob Shannon's web-site had a story combining earthquakes and God. It's not surprising that some folks, seeing the immense power released by a quake associate it with God. Hmmm...maybe this question appearing in this forum is not so OT after all....
