I see Don has published several more predictions today, so it is time to evaluate some of his past work. The first is the prediction for Rampur, India (Post #10567 below, posted on Nov 1, 2001). Don had predicted an event of M 3.5-4.7 within 65 km of 31.7N 78E within 2 days of November 5, 2001. NEIS lists the following event: O: 06Nov2001 16:09:12 33.1N 78.5E MB=4.9 NEIS KASHMIR-XIZANG BORDER REG This earthquake falls within 150 km of Don's predicted event and within the time window specified (1 day off the expected). The Mb magnitude is larger than expected, but since no magnitude type was specified and GSSC gives the event Ms 4.7, I will accept that the magnitude was within the range specified. Fifteen 5-day periods within the last 4 years (since October, 1997) have boasted an earthquake within 150 km of the given epicenter with magnitude 3.5-4.9. In the same period there are 292 5-day periods. The probability of getting a "success" in this wider area are therefore about 0.05 or odd of about 1 in 20. While slightly off the mark on the location, this is otherwise a very useful and subsantially correct prediction. Congratulations again on another good piece of work, Don.
