This does sound pretty cool Lowell - I attended a talk given by Kerry Seik in the last few months where he did a powerpoint presentation and talk with the subject matter of: We can live with Earthquakes - that was the basic message anyway -

If we're smart about it we can make it through them - we have the engineering for most earthquakes. As long as we aren't building on top of fautls we should be able to co-exist with these events.

I think Kerry said: If we remediate 1% pep year of structures and such then within 100 years we'd be safe.
