Hi Lowell, Thanks for bringing that to the forefront. One thing that I recall as though it were yesterday was a PBS special featuring Lucy Jones and the topic was the Northridge Earthquake. During the filming of the story they went up into the San Gabriel Mountains not far from a USGS monitoring site and she showed some area's that she said prior to Northridge had oil seeping out them them. At the time she said they didn't know what to make of it, but were greatly surprised that the oil level would reach such heights. Therefore, I am wondering if this precursory phenomena is perhaps occurring again at this time. If anyone who knows Kate, Erik or Lucy and might feel comfortable in asking about this, I would very much like to know. Or if there is anyone who is reading this board who can drive there and have a look see for themselves, that would be more than could be hoped for. Although that could present a problem as there may be many monitoring sites in the San Gabriel Mountains. However, my concerns do not lie with the Hollywood, Newport-Inglewood area's for certain reasons, which I won't go into at this time. Of course a 5.0 would not be out of the question, but I truly do not feel anything of a very serious nature is in the making at this time. But I am very much concerned about the area south of Parkfield to Owens Valley and down to Fort Tejon. This area is showing some unusual activity as well and I believe it bares watching more closely. Inasmuch as it lies north of the area's that have had the largest quakes in CA, ie: Landers-Big Bear and Hector Mines, it may be more likely to give way. Anyway, I don't have anything to offer that would be solid, so let's just say I get a bad feeling when looking at the dots on the map. Petra
