See link: super typhoon Haiyan is now the strongest tropical cyclone in the world this year: sustained winds 165 knots, gusts to 200. Conversion gives sustained winds of 190 mph, and gusts to 230. I don't recall ever hearing of winds this high. Headed to Philippines soon. Significant wave height 50 feet (means some can be 100 feet).
