Some of what the new USGS page offers is kind of like what Roger and I do when messing with quake databases. For myself, I'll download an entire catalog then write code to do the complex searches. The new USGS interface does that to a degree but has a much more user friendly interface than what Roger or I do. Many might think, "user friendly", but you have to realize that what Roger and I do is done with programming code, and not simple point, click, drag, zoom.

I've worked every now and then on a program that has very similar functionality to the new USGS maps. The only big advantage my program has over the USGS page is mine is in 3D. But it's not done... always a 'work in progress'. It works for me, but making something that others can use, that's been difficult for me to figure out.
