Re: Shutdown and lack of universal health care: this country is insane. |
Unless there is some other explanation, it appears that many of the USGS Web pages are no longer running including their earthquake archives search. Their main earthquake Web page is still running. Roger and I compare heated notes now and then about how determined those people seem to be with regard to making their search pages difficult to read using automated computer programs. And I thought that they would really need to make a concerted effort to create a Web page format that was even more difficult to read than their present one. That might have been an underestimation. They WERE in fact able to discover how to make their search page output even more unreadable. It no longer exists! Depending on how long this is going to last I am guessing that it will be necessary to teach my computer programs how to decode the following Web page. http://www.seismo.ethz.ch/eq/latest/index_EN?list=w The USGS Web page that is still running is virtually impossible for a computer to read. That seismo.ethz.ch Web page should be possible to read through the use of the special type of program code I developed for reading the regular USGS earthquake search page format. These are personal opinions.
