For visitors and Roger,

For visitors,

Roger and I have been arguing about earthquake forecasting for more years than I can remember. But at the same time we have gotten some valuable computer software developed. My own forecasting program relies heavily on it.

For Roger,

Unless you are planning to return as a tree or a cow you are going to have just one life. So, why not attempt to do something productive with whatever remains in it rather than just argue.

That Etgtab.exe - ocean tide project would be valuable. And it could be even be converted into a publication.

Steps

1. Determine that the etgtab.exe program and Web site ocean tide data agree for various locations and times.

2. Work with the Fortran Newsgroup and perhaps Basic Newsgroup people to get a TrueBasic version of the etgtab.exe program developed and running.

3. Prepare and submit a publication regarding the effort to some journal.

BULLETIN BOARD

I am gradually moving closer to getting my own bulletin board fully operational. It has taken a while to determine how to mix text entries with charts on a single Web page so that both can be easily observed. Fortunately, having a board that relies 100% on Perl language CGI code makes customization work easier.

Right now the best mix looks like a forecasting Web page that shows the latest 5 to 10 entries along with each chart being displayed. As newer messages are added, older ones disappear. And there will be another Web page generated at the same time that an entry is submitted that shows all of the text entries in the same way that the present EarthWaves board does.

These are personal opinions.
