finally a M6 |
There was finally a M6. There have only been 3 in the last 35 or 40 days: this 6.0, a 6.1, and the 7.5 in Queen Charlotte SE Alaska (which had no M6+ aftershocks). I'll try a prediction of sorts based on assumption that quakes are not quite random. There will be seven M6 or higher quakes in the next 7 days somewhere in the world, starting from the time of this post. I have no particular scientific justification to say that beyond that there averages a M6 quake every 2 days and quakes can trigger other quakes. It is in the 70s (deg F) here in the heartland, two days after I went skating on a 100 m stretch of stream. Today and tomorrow may put us back to it being as warm for Dec1 2012-Present as the same period last year, and not too much cooler for the July 1-present period.
