False Alarm based on CSEM MB 6.9-7.1 report

Thanks for seeing that Canie. I based my initial enthusiasm (unjustified) on the report
CSEM had made giving this an Mb 6.9-7.1. Usually Mb 7.1 is the highest possible
magnitude MB meaning the quake is Mw 7.5+ (close to a great quake). The report
was backed up with initial seismograms from the area showing a large earthquake
had occurred. Subsequently, however, more distant recordings have shown the event
to be considerably smaller than originally declared. I do expect, however, that
the Mw on this will be about Mw 6.2-6.4 when final calculations are done, however.

Might also point out that the following listing on the California-Nevada listing is
probably a ghost having occurred about 8.5 minutes after a Mb 5.6 in Kamchatka -
the p-wave travel time:

MAP 3.1 2001/10/09 18:41:29 40.678N 119.210W 15.0 11 km ( 7 mi) SSW of Trego, NV
