Just a note of correction. The 240 quake total is actually for the entire state of California and not just S. Cal. This number overall seems fairly normal for the state. It usally is between 160 and 300.

However, I do agree with you that S. Cal has seen an increase in activity, especially around LA. The past 2 months have been interesting with a definate spike in microquakes. Within the last week they seemed over and I was hopeful that it was just a random swarm. Then this morining there 4 micro quakes all witin hours in the LA to Long Beach area. I'm still hoping that this will be it for the swarm.
