Re: Earthquake forecasting question

Hi. I fail to see how poles stuck in the ground can be used to predict an earthquake of any magnitude. The amount of tilt, or dilational strain is so small that only the most sensitive instruments are able to measure the amount that might be present before a quake.

Before any method of predicting earthquakes can be accepted it must be presented to others, both skeptics and believers alike so that it can be used to see if the results can be duplicated. I don't see where this has been done, or any indication that it will be done.

I'm not sure as to why or how a smooth surface wall built in a north/south direction where the sun shines constantly can be used to predict earthquakes.

I'm also not sure as to why more observatories are needed to locate the epicenter of an earthquake. That is already being done with good accuracy. Unless of course the way epicenter is spelt (epi center) means that this is two words where the meaning is not known by me.

My way of thinking is that for any method of predicting an earthquake to be of any use the day, location and magnitude has to be given. Take Care…Don in creepy town
