Regarding this miniature quake today in the Newport/Inglewood Fault Zone:

1.8 2001/09/24 21:35:55 33.898N 118.304W 2.8 5 km ( 3 mi) ESE of Hawthorne, CA

I found the depth interesting. I did a search using the NEIC PDE and PDE-Q databases from 1973 to present within 10km radius of this quake, and found that there were 29 quakes. Of these 29, only 2 were as shallow as today quake. Curious ....
