Geomagnetic Storm and Auroras |
Thanks for your daily summaries with links to the solar forecasts, etc. Just wanted to report seeing what looked like possibly an aurora last night. I'm way down in the southeastern part of the country and have never seen an aurora but last night I happened to be looking up at the moon and trying to decide what planet was underneath it when I noticed something off to the right. At first I thought that someone had been shooting fireworks and I'd missed the explosion and only seen the remains falling, but it continued to fall in a small wave until it fell behind the trees. Would the geomagnetic storms cause someone to see an aurora this far south? It was indeed strange and unusual to see here in the south.
