Re: Just Some Thoughts |
Hi Don. I don't know if you read my response to Petra's about the activity off the coast of Vancouver or not. It was right after the events in NY and DC and I noticed some strange sights just below the summit on the west side of Rainier. I always take the time to look at Rainier when the weather permits and of course I visit when I get the chance. I noticed it two different days and now it's business as usual. I know there was no increase in seismic activity, but it definately got my full attention. I am not the only one that noticed, other people that live around me noticed too. Most people were glued to their t.v.'s so they weren't even looking at the mountain much less thinking about it. I did notice that they moved the Camp Muir seismo to Camp Sherman yesterday or the day before and they have actually added a seismo at Glacier Peak the same day (at least that is when they appeared online). Is there more activity in the Cascades right now and is there a relationship to the quakes off of Vancouver? Your guess is as good as mine and probably much better ;-) I certainly hope that we aren't in for a megathrust at this time (at any time really, but I know it will happen sooner or later). I'll guess we'll see how things shake out, but I for one have really had enough excitement this year and wouldn't mind if things just slid along smoothly for awhile...
