Hi Don,

I believe you might have noticed that small aftershock in WA where the last 5.0 occurred a few months ago.

One thing for sure, the entire NW is in a time of flux. It can go near quiet and then pick back up again with a fury. While I see you are being discriminating about the epicenter of the next possible moderate to large quake, which you've demonstrated repeatedly usually produces something near what you have in mind; in this case I think a heads up in the Seattle area around Puget Sound, Vancouver Island, Upper Oregon and the area's off shore should be watched carefully.

The reason I'm saying a watch should be in order is the history of what we have seen since February. If you will recall there were 6 5+ quakes off shore from the northern end of Vancouver Island, then came the Olympia subduction quake. These were followed by intermitent activity around Puget Sound, then a 5 west of Olympia and now we are back with quakes off of Vancouver Island, but further south than the original six that started this "tennis of quakes."

This can develop into something serious, more moderate quakes or quiescense once again. Going out on a limb here, I think there is more to come and quakes in the >5 to 6.6 range would not come unexpectedly from off Vancouver Island to onshore WA from my point of view.

So yes I'm with you in your observations for an advisement. Now is the time to check one's preparedness plans, quake kits, car kits and work kits. I hope no one ever needs them.
