Mount Konocti, California

Hi All. Earlier Sunday night I took Petra to Meca so she could unwind and get a little rest and relaxation. How anyone can get any rest and relaxation with all the racket made by bells and whistles is beyond me. I've been to some stamp metal factory's that were quieter.

Anyway I stayed inside for a bit, but the noise got to me early on so I got me a root beer (they don't serve Corona, or any other kind of beer) and went outside where it was nice an quiet. While I was outside I struck up a conversation with an elderly woman from Clear Lake. We talked about this an that when the subject got around to earthquakes. She told me she wasn't all that worried about earthquakes. At least not as much as she was about Mount Konocti which is a dormant volcano that sits at an elevation of 4,300 feet and is located just southwest of Clear Lake. She told me there is an area on the side of it that is completely devoid of any live vegetation. When there is fog in the area you can see the fog rising in that area as if it was being pushed up by heat, or some wind of some kind. I asked her when she first notice this. She told me it started about 2 years ago.

I think when Petra gets settled in at her new home she and I are going to take a trip over there to see what we can learn. I know most of the mountain is private property, but maybe we can pick some tidbits of information that may give us a better idea as to what may be happening there. I know they have some strange wind currents in that area, but that doesn't account for the dead vegetation.

In the meantime I will look up the history of this sleeping volcano and see if I can find what is known about it. Take Care…Don in creepy town
