Q for the group

Hi All,

I have heard that solar storm activity can increase a quake about to occur by as much as one magnitude. Can anyone explain to me why? (In layman's terms, please.)

Also, if a geomagnetic storm occurs at night (while your side of earth is pointed away from the sun, does this make any difference?

Thanks,

Cathryn
