HI Lowell! So NICE to find a Native Soul!! me too born and raised in Denver and have spent Many an hour tramping the hills above Creede, Silverton,Ophir, Rico,Engineer Pass, Black Bear Pass {never again} Eureka, Calif Gulch, found great samples of Tellurium ore at Bear Lake along with sylvinite and in place gold ore vein, wonderful Quartz matrix specim. went into the old "American"?? Tunnel below Lake Emma Before Its collapse, still lots of gold ore in Cement creek. Spent many an hour at the old Mayflower Mill later known as Standard Metals this was across the Animas from the Highland Mary mine with the trams and buckets. My father in law Aldo Bonavida was Mill Super, {married his daughter} so got "into" places that were not always open. Had enough Geology background to get Me into a lot of trouble..never did get the old degree, the wife got pregnant and Duty Called,! Best and biggest trout I ever caught were on the Animas and best Brookises were on Upper and Lower Bear Creek. biggest hassle was Clear Lake What a hike! over 10000 ft. the fish were Not that great! a bit mushy! Went over Stony Pass once to fish the Rio Grande headwaters it was snowing but BEST trout in the world were hiding up there and LOVED Worms!! Had a chance to buy the Avon Hotel in Silverton for $3000 but got shot down from then Wife and Father in Law, Rats today its worth over 300,000, so much for joint accounts!! the Boarding House at the Old Hundred was still standing and the Piano was stiil in place about ten years ago! I got to ride the Narrow guage RR way back when it was $15.00 one way from Durango to Silverton!! thats when I got hooked on model RR in HO and try to pay todays bills with scale HO Dioramas and I am great on fantasies unfilled in HO scale! Want the ULTIMATE Private CAR??? see me!! So for what its worth I have had some GREAT GE. teachers, DR Evens, Dr. Levins.. had to work out on foot the fault line from Waterton Canyon Co to Hudson Co and was told "You are Great in the Field BUT You will not ever be Published! You are a Radical in class and before Your Peers!!! However at some point in your life You will be heard,Denver is at Risk! in that it has very Soft--Roots... things built on soft, sediments, wiil sink and fall over!! the other Great "Teacher" in My life was a soul called Hal Miller who taught a class at CU for a while, a Nueclar Phyhist [sp} that at some point was involved with ARCO? and Truly Laid out {at least} for Me how Gold does in fact form along or at least borders Caldera Boundries and Infuses what today are called intrusive veins? along the "outside " remaning Caldera walls???
