BACKGROUND: POPOCATEPETL MEXICO (1401-09)
SUMMIT HEIGHT 17930 FT (5465 M)

SOURCES OF INFORMATION: GOES-8 VISIBLE INFRARED AND MULTISPECTRAL
IMAGERY. 1200 UTC MEXICO CITY SOUNDING. MEXICO CITY MWO AND
CENAPRED VOLCANO CAM.

ERUPTION DETAILS: THE MEXICO CITY MWO REPORTS A SMALL ERUPTION OF
STEAM AND ASH AT 1725 UTC TO FL180.

DETAILS OF ASH CLOUD: SATELLITE IMAGERY THROUGH 11/1732 UTC SHOWS
CONSIDERABLE CLOUDINESS OVER THE AREA MAKING DETECTION OF ASH
IMPOSSIBLE. HOWEVER..EARLIER IMAGERY DID SHOW A WELL DEFINED
HOTSPOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE VOLCANO.
