VOLCANO REPORT 11/8

Keeping in mind that these volcanoes reside to my south and under us, for two evenings now, I have been feeling skakes coming up from beneath me. And it suddenly occurred to me; what must those eruptions be doing to our fault system? If I am feeling uplifts, could not the San Andreas be pried up and this causing her supposedly more northern movement as reported the other night on Ch. 7? And what effect are these eruptions on so called Gobal Warming? Tons of ash into the air causes cooling, which may be the intent since the sun is now into it's most active period of time, which means it's hotter and much more unkind to our skin. Ash might absorb some of the material hitting here and deflect other. Who knows, this could be the way God protects us. On the other hand, maybe, this is the way He goes about making great quakes...which we are behind and haven't seen much of over the last two years. Contest: When and where was the last +8 EQ?

But the volcanoes wait:

SOURCES OF INFORMATION: GOES-8 VISIBLE INFRARED AND MULTISPECTRAL
IMAGERY...QUAYAQUIL METEOROLOGICAL WATCH OFFICE SIGMET...12 UTC AVN
MODEL SOUNDING DATA.

ERUPTION DETAILS: CONTINUOUS ERUPTION WITH A MORE INTENSE RELEASE OF
ASH AND STEAM. A POSSIBLE EXPLOSION OCCURRED AT 08/1947 UTC.

DETAILS OF ASH: THE LATEST QUAYAQUIL MWO SIGMET INDICATES THAT
TUNGURAHUA IS ERUPTING WITH MORE INTENSITY. ASH AND STEAM IS NOW
REPORTED TO BE AT FL330. A MULTISPECTRAL IMAGE AT 2115 UTC SHOWS ASH
THAT EXTENDS 69 KM (37 NMI) TO THE EAST OF THE SUMMIT AND IS 13 KM
(7 NMI) WIDE. THE ASH IS ORIENTED IN A NARROW PLUME THAT
EXTENDS BACK TO THE SUMMIT.

SOURCES OF INFORMATION: MEXICO CITY METEOROLOGICAL WATCH
OFFICE...GOES-8 VISIBLE INFRARED AND MULTISPECTRAL IMAGERY.

ERUPTION DETAILS: INITIAL ERUPTION OCCURRED AT 08/1515 UTC.

DETAILS OF ASH CLOUD: THE MEXICO CITY MWO REPORTS NO ACTIVITY AT
THIS TIME WITH COLIMA. STEAM AND POSSIBLE ASH FROM THE EVENT EARLIER
IN THE DAY IS NOT EVIDENT IN SATELLITE IMAGERY AND IS BELIEVED TO
HAVE DISSIPATED.

UPPER-AIR SOUNDING.
.
ERUPTION DETAILS: ERUPTION OCCURRED AT 08/2030 UTC.
.
DETAILS OF ASH CLOUD: THE MONTSERRAT VOLCANO OBSERVATORY HAS
REPORTED AND SATELLITE IMAGERY CONFIRMS THAT AN ERUPTION OCCURRED AT
THE SOUFRIERE HILLS VOLCANO. IN FACT THE MULTISPECTRAL AND INFRARED
SATELLITE IMAGERY THROUGH 2145 UTC SHOWS AN ASH CLOUD NOW OVER AND
TO THE EAST OF THE VOLCANO SITE. IT APPEARS BASED ON SATELLITE
IMAGERY AND A CHECK OF UPPER-AIR WIND DATA THAT THE ASH PLUME
CONTINUED ITS ASCENT FROM FL100. THE ASH IS ESTIMATED TO HAVE
REACHED A FINAL ALTITUDE OF ABOUT FL250.

Discussion continued at CRITICAL EQ WINDOWS.
