Here's a news blurb from Channel 2000 in LA: New Fault Line Found In Coastal Area - (IRVINE) -- Geologists say they've found a fault line in a heavily populated coastal strip in Orange County. Doctor Lisa Grant of U-C Irvine says the fault doesn't significantly change the probability of an earthquake occurring in Southern California. But scientists say it could generate a bigger quake in the region than previously believed, causing up to a magnitude seven-point-three quake. Grant says this fault may be responsible for a fairly sizable shaker in 1769. The 24-mile-long blind thrust fault runs from Huntington Beach to Dana Point.
