Hi Canie, Yes, indeed I do know Charles. He gave me a few hours of lessons a few months ago. He's a terrific educator and with a little humor, geology never was so interesting. We studied the eastern side of the Sierra's and he taught me about alluvial fans. Then there was that thing about my car. I told him I didn't know what all of those buttons and push and pull tabs were and I figured since I hadn't used them during the summer, they must be meant for winter driving. I still have a problem with the windshield wipers and the speed control being on the same stick. One day this winter when driving down the freeway and wanting to have both speed control and windshield wipers in use at the same time, might prove to be a problem. He also told me the "s" on the gear shift is for "second" gear not "S for slow" as I had intrepted it. Oh well, there are some things that just elude me, but in time, I learn everything I need to know. Pat
