Hello 'In Oregon'

Yes, some think your area is ready for a big subduction quake - its more likely to be closer to Seattle than Oregon, but I'm sure you'll feel it !

It may not be an imminent quake in your area - unfortunately, Quake prediction in not particularly reliable (and some say impossible)

We are all learning what sings there may be before quake - animals acting weird, some say earthquake clouds, water mains breaking, other strange behaviors, Ultra Low Frequency signals, electromagnetic signals, humans with ear tones, headaches, other pains, solar flares, and also triggering from other quakes. Some think tides and moon cycles come into play.

I also think that certain areas have their peculiarities. The warnings before a subduction quake (if there are any) are certainly different from those of a shallow quake - I doubt there would be shallow earth movement for a quake that would be located several miles (25+) below the surface (as in a subduction quake)

In California we don't have many subduction quakes - only up in the very northern end of the state are those possible.

It would be interesting to try to learn of what kind of precursors they may have had in the Mexican quake on 9/30/99. I wonder if the animals feel these coming ? The mechanism is quite different than our strike-slip faults. (and thrust faults)
