The Smile Report |
Hi All, Before the Lavic Lake 7.1 quake I made friends with a man who lives near the San Diego Zoo. I was very curious to know if the animals would act up from an earthquake. He told me just the night before our conversation he was so close to the zoo that he could hear the lions roar at night. He also said he had four dogs and recently moved here from the midwest. I had asked him in particular to pay close attention to which animals were making noises as I wanted to know which if any were more active than the rest. Like I told him, maybe the Monkeys get more upset than the Lions, or perhaps the birds, but to pay attention and let me know. So I finally reached him today curious to know how the matters at the zoo went with the earthquake. Unfortunately due to the hour, he was in a very deep sleep and found his four dogs woke him up barking. He said when he stood up to see what was going on, then the earthquake struck and he had to sit back down. As little actually happens in San Diego of note, I don't expect I'll get many reports from him, but as I remain ever curious, one day I hope to know if all the residents at the zoo get upset about earthquakes or only some. I only regret that with there being so many, unlike our own animals who we can calm down with pets and love, these in the zoo have few to care for their frazzled nerves. There's always more need than hands available. Pat in Petaluma
