Hi Al,

Thanks for your comments both interesting and plausible. What bearing would it have on the threshold of strain for faults with differing angles of attack? Say where one side of the fault is pushing into the other side of the fault at a 45 degree angle versus another fault where one side of the fault is pushing into the other side of the fault at say a 20 degree angle?

I'm thinking that it has something to do with how much pressure is being applied just before the fault slipping.
