Hi All, Yes, the smoke was bad last night in the air. We had fans in the windows facing outward to pull it out of the house. Last night yet another speeder blowing thru the neighborhood this time on a motorcycle hit a neighbors dog who had gotten out. Thankfully he is ok with just cuts on his legs from where he got pushed over 40feet on the front of the bike. The guy is ok too, but his bike isn't. He layed the bike down but had an armour suit on & it saved him. I've had it with the speeders and will be heading to base commanders office tomorrow to talk with him about speed bumps on our street, and better lighting. This guy was going at least 35-40 MPH from our hearing him after he turned the corner. He broadsided poor Mikey, his bike went down and he pushed Mikey in front of him. (what a horrible sound it all was!-neighbors rushed from everywhere) He didn't call the cops. Of course not, he was speeding in a 15PMH zone. Well, they'll know tomorrow. You all have heard me complain about the speeding problems here and last week my 9yr old son was almost hit by one speeding. War path time.
We spent the afternoon up in SF for the 10th Loma Prieta Anniversary Comemoration at Marina Green. Ed accepted an award on behalf of his unit. It was very emotional hearing the bells at 5:04pm and then the bagpipes. This whole time a SF Examiner photographer snapping pictures of me, my 6yr old daughter and my other kids. He took our names, ages, and why we were there. I'll see if it appears tomorrow. It was a very moving ceremony and there were even people who survived the 1906 EQ. Watched the fireboats and immagined what it must have been like at that time in the Marina District & in Oakland at the Cypress. May they all rest in peace. And may the rest of us keep up our end by continuing to get the word out on predicting and preparation. Take care my friends.... Lucinda
