Hi all,

Appears that I've underestimated the size of this quake. Looking at my magnitude vs range chart below, I've indicated the ring that this quake occurred in.

Magnitude-vs-Range-Envelope:

From => 0 and < 101 miles - 4.3 to 5.8
From => 101 and < 226 miles - 4.6 to 6.1
From => 226 and < 451 miles - 4.9 to 6.4
From => 451 and < 701 miles - 5.2 to 6.7
From => 701 and < 1226 miles - 5.5 to 7.0
From => 1226 and < 1926 miles - 5.8 to 7.3 <== Mexico 7.5 at 1,850 miles
From => 1926 and < 3326 miles - 6.1 to 7.6
From => 3326 and < 5526 miles - 6.4 to 7.9
From => 5526 and < 9526 miles - 6.7 to 8.2

So I underestimated by .2 with this prediction. The 1,850 miles is the difference between the lat/lons of my location vs the lat/lons of the quake per the MAC MAP control panel. The coordinates I used for the quake were: 16.15N 96.71W.

I think I really underestimated this quake by more than .2 as my base magnitude for that distance was 6.5. Additionally, I've been known to do this for past Mexico quakes as well.

Dennis
