Hanging Out On The Fault Line

Hi All,

Been missing you. I've been doing a little field study at the Rodgers Creek Fault the past two days. It has a great deal to do with what everyone here does, however, since this is a public forum, I'll save the research project information until I have something in printed form.

But for today, I can say it was enormously quiet up there. No sounds of any kind that lead me to believe anything is due to break soon, but of course that can change in short order as we all know. In general word has it that this faults quiet is not going to remain so in the days ahead. Living only a few miles from it I have much concern as to the safety of everyone in this area. Being just out of the immediate Bay Area I believe financially we may have been a little short changed in monitoring, but perhaps that will improve in the future. Hopefully before the future jumps up and down in my own backyard.

I'm still writing and have taken the opportunity to enjoy a series of geology classes offered through Sonoma State University which includes three field trips along the coast. Other than that I am also trying to make three public access video's for earthquake preparedness, however, like everything else, when you have to work with others, time is a real consideration. But I did find those who are most important in my community fully support earthquake prediction and warnings even if they come from people with our talents. That came very much as a surprise to me, a very pleasant surprise. I think the dark ages may be over when it comes to what people have thought about earthquake sensitives, at least I think there is a light at the end of the tunnel in that respect.

Hope this message board keeps it together. Despite obvious obstacles on the web, its still one of the few places that early warnings are available to those who need them today, more than ever.
I think we could all safely say the seismic quiessence is over. The road ahead may not be at all what any of us wants it to be, but if we share the gifts we have, someday, someone will know we cared enough to give the present that matters most in life, a few extra hours, days or what have you to say, we care more than most for their safety.

Peace & Light.....Pat in Petaluma
