Hi All. This is from CNN today. Take Care…Don in creepy town

YELM, Washington (CNN) -- Geologists on Wednesday inspected Washington's Mount Rainier to determine what caused a sudden and large water flow to wash down the mountainside overnight into area roads and rivers.

All evidence, according to Ed Reed, program manager of the Pierce County Emergency Management Department, points to a so-called glacial outburst, a relatively rare geologic event.

A glacial outburst occurs when warm temperatures melt ice under the mountain's glacier, forcing water to suddenly burst out of the ground and race down the mountain, threatening dangerous flooding of roads and riverbeds.

"That's what all the evidence points to," Reed told CNN.com, adding that the glacial outburst did little more than scare a group of mountain campers. There were no reports of injuries.

Geologists will continue to monitor seismic devices placed around Mount Rainier -- a 14,411-foot volcano that has not produced an eruption in 150 years, Reed said.

The devices were designed to alert authorities to sudden flooding, earthquakes or mudslides.

"This doesn't seem to be associated with any volcanic activity of any kind," said Jody Woodcock, also of Pierce County Emergency Management.

"There have been no evacuations, no structures threatened," Woodcock said. "Some bridges were temporarily closed in nearby towns as a precaution and some rivers rose. But since we've been in a drought lately, water levels in the riverbeds were low."
