I do recall that, Petra. You might be interested that there have actually been three unusual earthquakes in northern and northwestern Canada in the past 4 days. These occurred in the Northwest Territories, Yukon Territory and today's at Queen Elizabeth Island. Here are the parameters of the other two: 11AUG2001 21:22:08 62.5N 128.5W ML=4.9 PGC No. of Watson Lake. Yukon Territory and 10AUG2001 15:41:59 64.3N 131.0W ML=4.8 NEIS NW TERR- NUNAVUT, CANADA The earthquake on August 11 was the largest within 100 km of it's epicenter since FEb 13, 1986 when a Mb 5.2 occurred. This was the only earthquake nearby which was larger than the event on Aug. 11. A similar sized earthquake occurred with Mb 4.9 on July 11, 1979. The magnitude of this earthquake on Aug 10 was Ml 4.8.. Until this year, the area within 100 km of this epicenter had experienced only 3 earthquakes of Ml 4.8 or greater (22FEB1964, MB5.0; 26Oct1996, MB5.2; and 25NOV1997, Mb 5.1). A Mb 5.5 occurred near here on Feb 2, 2001, however which has been followed by an energetic aftershock sequence with events of Mb 5.2 (March 9); Mb 4.8 (March 29) and Mb 5.2 (April 2). No events have occurred with Ml>=4.5 in the area in the past 4 months, however, so it appeared the aftershocks had diminished until yesterday's earthquake.
