Don, your old coot. You did it again. NCSN is reporting the following earthquakes this afternoon: ML 3.3 2001/08/12 17:47:07 38.819N 122.838W NW of The Geysers, CA ML 3.5 2001/08/12 17:35:48 38.818N 122.841W NW of The Geysers, CA Don had said: Ml 2.5-4.0 Aug 12 38.9N 123.0W Hopland/Pieta CA This prediction is correct to the date and within 17 km of his predicted epicenter and within his magnitude range. There have been 140 earthquakes in his predicted area with Ml>=3.5 since 1930, an average of about 2 per year. The last event larger than this occurred on Dec 8, 2000 (Ml 4.4). The only other event of this size in the area during the past year occurred on April 13, 2001. GIVE DON A GRADE OF AAA on this one!!! Congratulations, Don, it looks like Petra owes you a crispy Chicken dinner with gravy and mashed potatoes. My mouth is watering already. In his latest prediction Don said: Pieta/Hopland Forecast Posted by Don In Hollister on August 08, 2001 at 21:54:38:
Magnitude: 2.5/4.0Ml From: 08/09/2001 - To: 08/14/2001 Location: Pieta/Hopland Lat: 38.9N - Long: 123.0W - Range: 40Km Hi All. I sure like my forecast for the Antarctica/Pacific Ridge. All of the triggers were in the right place. Still missing though is a way to get a more accurate expected magnitude. Sure hope that someone somewhere is working on that. Petra is going to love this one. I'm looking for a 2.5Ml to a 4.0Ml about 4 miles SE of Pieta. That is about 12 miles SE of Hopland. If the quake is at the top end of my forecast they will feel it at the Casino. I bet a dollar to a doughnut she will want me to take her there before the quake occurs so she can feel it. Lets see now. It should be somewhere around 38.9N/123.0W. As usual I will use a 40Km radius. Take Care..Don in creepy town Don usually notes a specific date for his forecast which is in the middle of his range. I pointed this out to him on telephone on Friday, and he said the date should be 12 August, that it was an oversight not to have included it.
