Hi Canie. I’m going to play “the Devils advocate” today.

In San Francisco there are two tunnels that you have to go through to get to the Golden Gate Bridge. There is one south of the bridge and one north of it. In Japan there is a tunnel that runs under the ocean from the northern end of Honshu to the southern end of Hokkaido.

I don’t know what the traffic situation is like in the area of where this tunnel is being proposed so I don’t know if it’s really warranted or not so lets say that it is.

Most of if not all of us live in homes and work in buildings that could collapse on us during a major quake. There are bridges that we drive on that could collapse in a major quake. There are roads that could side down the side of a hill or mountain, or the mountain could side down on the road during a major quake.

There is a certain risk factor in our everyday lives that we live with so one must look at the odds of there being a major quake that could cause the tunnel to collapse. The same risk factor applies too the homes and buildings we live and work in and the bridges we drive on. Just what are the odds of a major quake striking in the area that could cause the tunnel to collapse?

When I go to see Petra I have to drive through two tunnels and over a bridge to get to where she lives. It takes me on the average 2 ½ hours. I can take other roads to get there, but that would take me about 5 hours if I didn’t want to drive over any bridges, or go through any tunnels to get to her place. If I were to take the longer way around what are the odds of my having a fatal accident, by being on the highways for a much longer time?

As for myself I don’t think the tunnel should be built in the area they propose as there are a couple of faults near-by that could bring that tunnel down. Maybe not in its entirety, but enough of it so a major number of people could be trapped inside.

Just my thoughts. Take Care…Don in creepy town
