Hi Lowell. I said it looked like they weren't going to occur. I didn't say they weren't going to occur. Big difference. The unknown factor here is the amount of stress that is building not only in that area, but in the area south of there. To my way of thinking these quakes are the weak link in the chain. When there are no more weak links then there will be a major quake. There is 7 to 11mm of creep per year on the northern section of the Hayward fault. There is almost no creep on the southern section of the Hayward fault. There is also no movement on the southern section of the Rodgers Creek fault. There is a fault north of the Hayward fault that was thought to be an inactive fault. This is the Pinol fault and is located under San Pablo Bay. There are a number of theories about this fault, but the one that seems to be the more logical of those theories is that it is an extension of the Rodgers Creek fault and may connect to the Hayward fault as a step over. That creep is going somewhere and the most likely place is north of the San Pablo Bay or maybe no further then the San Pablo Bay. My thinking is that it is further north then San Pablo Bay, which has been indicated by the quakes at Bolinas, Rohnert Park, and Yountville and the few micro quakes just south of Rohnert Park and the micro quakes east of Petaluma. There is a major quake building for the Bay Area. When it will occur is anyone's guess. It might even occur next month. Heck. It could even occur on 12 Dec. of this year. Then again maybe not. The old saying "that it's not over until the fat lady sings" may be true, because I'm hot hearing anyone singing. Petra keeps referring to that one ear tone she had that she has never heard before as "Deep, dark and ugly." She feels that it is in the area where I live or maybe a little further south. I have had a number of thoughts about that. I won't say what they are as I don't want to influence her decision anymore. I tried that once before and I didn't work very well. Her first impressions for the most part have been the correct ones. She has had a number of ear tones lately that were close to her area and nothing has happened. I have this feeling that she is hearing something building and it is still down the road. Take Care…Don in creepy town
