How long did you live there, Roger? If you were there in 1948, you may have had
your first earthquake experience first-hand and forgotten it. U.S. Earthquakes says
this about the earthquake of April 2 21:00 to 22:00 (Ml 3.8):

Wichita, Kansas. Six tremors (felt in Beechwood area about 5 miles east of
Wichita. Walls of homes in Federal housing project (good construction, wood)
trembled. Ripples and mild shaking of water noticed in goldfish bowls.

I think this was the last felt earthquake in the Wichita, KS area.
