NEIC IS BACK ONLINE HOORAY!! Among the many events in today's NEIC listing are two off the coast of Oregon. These are moderate sized events for the region, (Mb 3.8 and MB unknown.) The NEIC parameters follow: 24Jul2001 04:01:18.8 42.6N 126.4W 10 MB=3.8 M NEI OFF COAST OF OREGON 24Jul2001 03:06:16.1 42.4N 126.7W 10 HN=0.0 M NEI OFF COAST OF OREGON Some of you may recall that Don had expected an earthquake off the coast of Oregon in this time period. His prediction was (Post #8555 7/17/01): " Quake Forecast Off The Coast Of Oregon Posted by Don in Hollister on July 17, 2001 at 09:47:50: Magnitude: 3.0-4.5 From: 07/19/2001PST - To: 07/25/2001 Location: 360Km west of Eugene, Oregon Lat: 44.0N - Long: 127.7W - Range: 70Km Hi All. The tummy is acting up again and its telling me there is to be another quake off the coast of Oregon. It should be around 360Km (225 miles) west of Eugene, Oregon. This one should be on or about 07/21/2001. Take Care...Don in creepy town" Today's events fall outside his distance range but are within the magnitude and time windows and in the region described (off the Coast of Oregon), and they occurred about 340 km SW of Eugene, Oregon - Don said 360 km west of Eugene, Oregon. As we have noted on this board previously, earthquakes of MB>3.5 occur witha low probability in the area so, it's a pretty good prediction, even if not perfect yet, Don.
